our last day in Milano, before we fly back to Newcastle, and then Singapore.

apparently this is the low season for tourists here in Milan, because of the bloody weather - over 40 degrees everyday, and hardly any wind. good preparation for the weather back home though. hur.

the day we arrived in Milano, we visited the Duomo, the largest Gothic church, and made contact with Smelly. met her Romeo (literally and figuratively), were extremely impressed with her fluent italian, ice-cream, and then clubbing (interesting concept to lure people to club outdoors in the unbearable weather, 10euros for one drink and all-you-can-eat food).

Italy is pasta heaven - we had the most fantastic spaghetti with mussels and clams on our last night in Roma (we walked there without a map or any clue where the street was, and waited an hour for the restaurant to open), and in Milano, frutti de mare recommended by our hostel owner, with the plate filled to the brim with calamari, gambaretti and scampi. yum.

'enjoy your stomach', is how our hostel owner put it.

well, hawker centres, here we come.
