we did our laundry at our accommodation yesterday, and our strict harley-davidson owner told us that we couldn't use the dryer (makes sense anyway, since its summer), so we used the clothesline at the back of the yard...its been a long time since our clothes actually smell of the sun (if you know what i'm talking about).

almost everything was closed yesterday, we climbed up the Spielberk Castle, visited the Old Town Hall, made our way up to the St Peter and Paul Cathedral and had pretty much nothing to do after that. as we sat on the ledge in front of St Peter and Paul, overlookinang the train station (and Tesco), we wondered what the people in Brno did during the weekend, the city looked almost like a ghost town.

we decided to buy some food from Tesco, so we got down the hill leading to St Peter and Paul, took an underpass, and found out where the people of Brno were at - a shopping mall which had previously been unknown to us was milling with people. consumerism...haha. not that we were complaining, a walk around the entire mall killed about an hour or two.

and then we decided to go to V-Klub, a restaurant recommended by the lady at the tourist office (i think the city is not too used to tourists, we get weird stares because of our skin colour, and technically the tourist office should not recommend any food places but hey, it works for us). and we discovered another place where the Brno people go to during the weekend upon alighting the tram - a beautiful park, with V-Klub just next to it.

our waitress went all the way to describe the Czech menu to us - she snorted to indicate pork, pointed to her knee and ribs to tell us pork knee and pork ribs, and mooed for beef. we had to tip her, and the pork ribs we ordered were the best that i ever had - soft, tender meat and crispy on the outside.

walking around the park, we discovered an unusual swimming pool nearby (which we are going to visit later), and watched the setting up of a red hot air balloon right in the middle of the park - the people who set it up immediately jumped into the basket once it was done and flew into the blue skies, amazing.

we strolled back to our accommodation (which is situated in a quiet suburban neighbourhood), admired all the houses and the variety of flowers in their gardens (roses, lavender and other beautiful-looking flowers that i haven't seen before).

we're beginning to like the quiet Brno. definitely a break away from the busy Prague. travelling is always made more exciting with little surprises.
