Krakow has treated us well - the food is cheap, our accommodation fantastic (it's almost like a studio apartment, with great staff and lovely rosemary tea), and visit to the concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz was a real sobering experience.

the food. finally, we can have a meal for less than 10SGD, though we're not great fans of the Polish dumplings (i prefer the Chinese), but at least we tried them! haha. poultry, cabbage salad (the Polish make great salads) and fish have been really delicious so far...so no complaints!

the people. Polish are a really friendly bunch and the girls are pretty good to look at too (dawen's been going on and on about them). on the night we arrived, we asked a stranger to help us call the hostel reception because the office was closed (dawen picked him because he was carrying a skateboard) and he declined our attempts to pay him. the nice girl at our hostel gave us a sort of bible for places to eat at, and so far it has been pretty good.

Massolit Cafe, a huge but cosy book cafe with an incredible collection - history, literature, current affairs, gender studies, etc...will upload the pictures when we can, but imagine an old Eastern Europe building, with towering shelves of books, lighted lamps, coffee (i cheated, i had Fanta instead) and people lounging on the couches, whispering, climbing ladders to reach the higher shelves...my idea of life. :)

a slight cock-up in our Eurail passes, we only discovered today morning while talking to some Australians that we had Germany instead of Hungary printed on our passes! hopefully we'll be able to resolve the issues, otherwise, we'll go to Nuremberg and Frankfurt instead.

anyway, to Prague we go tonight on an overnight train. heard that it's going to be a dangerous journey, so we'll be on our guard. so far, no good reviews about Prague yet, not much expectations, but guess its the must-go place in Eastern Europe.

till then. :)
