Day Three in Stockholm
During breakfast, i got to know a Japanese family who was holidaying in the Scandinavian countries. they operate a family accommodation back in Japan near Mt Fuji and i got their contacts, just in case, well, someone does go to Japan. 'Nippon-something-something?' 'No' 'Korean?' 'No, Singaporean'. 'Oh, Singapore, I've been there, and to Sentosa.' Nice family, and it was different having breakfast with them. 'In Japan, we have rice, miso soup and fruits for breakfast.' Looking around at the greasy food everyone else was having, i said 'that sounds nicer than what we're having'.

this structure was tilted to one side...weird.

we spotted an old telephone booth,

and we both had to take pictures.

Nobelmuseet, the Nobel Museum. we learnt a lot about Alfred Nobel and the history of the Nobel Prize, kudos to our very informative and friendly guide. well, it did help that the group, and ourselves, continually asked questions.

a peek into the replicas, as well as genuine Nobel medals.

a close-up. well, if you win the Nobel Prize, you get about SGD2m reward, that's not too bad eh?

the hand-crafted certificate.

the streets of Gamla Stan...and graffiti.

inside Kungliga Slottet, The Royal Palace.

and just as we were leaving the Palace, we managed to catch the change of guards ceremony. i wonder how they stand guard in the cold...

we shared a chicken lasagana between the two of us for lunch, and then each an ice-cream cone for dessert.

our Stockholm cards, which allowed us unlimited rides on transport and entrance into museums. we cheated a bit over the 24 hour limit.

next stop, SOFO, Stockholm's answer to SOHO.

well, they used to have this in Singapore.

i apologize for the poor quality of the photo, this was taken with my camera phone. we went to Sneakers and Stuff to look at shoes (part of our itinerary now, to look at shoes at every city), and chanced upon the Air Force 1 display. this crocodile skin Air Force 1 costs 1400pounds and has 18k carat gold lace tags. i read in the papers today that PETA is actually protesting against Nike's use of crocodile skin for this pair of exclusive and expensive shoes. men say that they don't understand women and shoes. i say, i don't understand Nike sneakers in different colours.

jie, your weird curvy lamp! haha.

more red kitchen accessories. at this point we were back at the city center.

how's this for a pretty frying pan?

we wanted to try something Swedish again for dinner, so we ended up a bar/restaurant - Tennstopet. this is dw's fried herring.

and my assorted herring. his tasted better, i was too adventurous.
it was an expensive weekend trip, but i definitely had fun in Stockholm. we didn't manage to cover all the sights, but i was satisfied with what i was able to see. the people were friendly, and it was interesting just people-watching, observing Stockholm's own style of street fashion. i highly doubt we'll make another trip to the other Scandinavian countries again, and the beautiful memories of Stockholm will suffice, for now.
