dinner today was at Big Mussels with derek, michelle and michelia. we tried the one near St James' Park, and were really full after we each finished our 1/2kg of mussels. it was a fun dinner, derek told us of how he managed to wriggle his way out of exams 'me english no good, exams no!' when he can speak English perfectly, given that he's studying in San Francisco. hur. and his 'so cheap!' really tickled michelle and i.

post-dinner, we wanted to have coffee/tea at a cafe, but being Newcastle, all the cafes were closed. we settled for a pub instead, michelia went off to Tiger Tiger for some salsa class and then we talked about Easter travelling plans, mainland China, how people would stop you on the streets in Paris to buy LV, plans on catching a match at St Jame's park...the night was really fun, enjoyed myself thoroughly! and we made plans to meet next wednesday for lunch. :D

off to do my readings for my Literature class tomorrow...oh yes, something interesting. i made friends with this guy from Greece, and the way that we met was quite unusual actually. last week at the bus stop, he was grinning sheepishly at me because he missed a bus that he was running for, he had ran across the street while i was patiently waiting to cross the road but the bus refused to wait for him. so we started talking, and then today, i ran into him again. he asked how i'm adjusting at Newcastle, and i asked about how he's finding the standards of living in the UK. 'so, how does the Greek currency compare to the pound?' he quoted me the Euros exchange rate, and i was puzzled, 'you mean, you use Euros in Greece?' 'ya!' right, i was embarrassed about my ignorance, until he asked me 'so, what currency do you use in Singapore? the yen?' heh heh, apparently we all don't have much clue about the world economy.
