we had a reunion lunch today - michelle, michelia, dawen and i. it was a reunion lunch because the girls were going for dinner with the Singapore Society, which i wasn't quite interested in. anyway, this was the spread! ba kut teh, chicken curry, cod fish, really spicy broccoli (courtesy of michelle's chilli padi), egg tofu (er, haha), omelette with prawns and ham, sweet and sour pork, with tang yuan for dessert. michelia also invited her two German flatmates who were around to join us - Katrina & Jasmin. we had a really long lunch and a good chat after that ( MUST try the kebab at Germany. and it was not invented in Turkey, but instead by the Turkish in Germany)
by the time we were done with our lunch, and post-lunch tea (oh, i love how English this sounds), it was almost 6pm. hur. we couldn't possibly cook dinner because we were still full, so dawen and i decided to skip our reunion dinner. we wanted to check out some pubs and clubs, but heard about the exorbitant prices - 8 pounds to just enter the club, because its a weekend. that's a good SGD24, without alcohol. so we headed to Morrisons instead, because i had some serious craving for chocolate fondue. we walked about 15 minutes to the supermarket, my metrosexual boyfriend says that you burn 3x more calories when walking in winter. 'where did you hear that from?' 'cosmopolitan'. hrm.
and then, dawen spotted his favourite Guylian and insisted on a picture. okayyyyyyy. haha.
we also bought a bottle of white wine to go with our chocolate fondue. it cost us around SGD18, alright, considering that it tasted much better than the one i bought for the NTLG dinner at around SGD16. an unconventional way of celebrating Chinese New Year's Eve but hey, i might as well try something new over here.Labels: Chinese New Year, Newcastle
