as much as i enjoy not studying over here, i thought that it's time that i make full use of my exchange experience - not only the travelling, but the different academic environment as well. so i decided it was time to check out the Newcastle University library - Robinson Library.

well, hrm. same system as NUS, except the RBR here allows you to loan books up to 4 hours. the overdue fines are atrocious though - a pound an hour.

i didn't manage to get any books for my seminar session next week - all books on Khrushchev were all loaned out and i decided instead to look for books on the Hungarian Crisis and the Cuban Missile Crisis. score! and it should be quite refreshing reading from the USSR point of view for a change. the collection's here pretty comprehensive, so i should have a fairly easy time researching for my essays.

everything is going well, erm, except for my Literature module. everything goes over my head during lecture. hur. weijian, good luck with the Literature essay you're rushing back in Singapore, and thanks, to both you and jingwen, for wishing me happy v'day almost simultaneously. :D

i had a fun dinner with two exchange students from America today. i cooked fried rice for them and they whipped up a really delicious salad. ice-cream was offered for dessert and the evening nicely rounded up with all the get-to-know-you chats.

right, now back to Tennyson's Maud.
