well, dawen's train was scheduled at 8.40am, so i woke up early to send him off. also, because we got the vodafone family package, where one person just pays £5 per month and we can talk all we want, we chatted quite a bit while i was walking to campus. just about then, he realized that he was actually on the wrong train. but he still managed to make his way to his hostel, after 6 confusing hours.

today marks the start of a new term. i wanted to take this class on Virgina Woolf, i even attended that class, but turns out that my timetable clashes with the seminar (their kind of tutorial over here). i tried to sign up for other Literature classes but the more interesting ones were full and i settled for High Victorian Poetry & Prose. haha, weijian, how's that for a Literature module?

the students seem to be quite similar to the typical (passive) Singaporean students. at the end of the Virginia Woolf class, the lecturer refused to allow us to pack first, and said that she would subject us to 'an awkward 5 minutes silence' for questions. of course, there were none, except for one administrative question not pertaining to the lecture. sounds quite similar to our classes in Singapore eh?

the main difference in classroom culture, i guess, is that laptops are seldom used in class. in NUS, almost 1/2 the class is multi-tasking on their laptop but over here, everyone takes out a notebook and pen.

i still miss Singapore terribly, i miss going for lectures with my friends. over here, i'm taking all my lectures alone. bah. ah well. i'll adapt. mr chiew and weijian, don't go clearing all your honours years modules yet! :)
