today we ventured into Maxwell Market. despite all the hype, we left disappointed, because the hum jim peng stall was closed, and so was the fried tapioca balls stall. anyway, we saw a long queue at this porridge stall named Zhen Zhen and thought to ourselves, hey this must be really good.

big mistake. it was far too thick for us and dawen could not even finish the entire bowl. a matter of personal preference perhaps.

although, the 鱼生 from the same stall saved the day. every bite was an explosion of flavour. thumbs up.

dawen ordered this. damn, i forgot the name. will update when it comes to my mind.

in addition, there was a really good bean curd/soya bean stall. we each had a cup of soya bean milk and were surprised by the subtle taste of horlicks in the drink. really innovative and refreshing. a must-try! :)

the rain never stopped pouring for the whole of today and we both trekked around Chinatown sharing my little red umbrella. we finally ended up at town, specifically the crazy sale at Specialist Centre, where my sister got me some more essentials for UK - cold cream and long john.
________________

we had something entirely different for dinner. my sister gave us a treat at La Strada Pizzeria (Shaw Center). the food was so good that again, i forgot to take pictures before digging in and only remembered halfway. it was a really cosy place and we got a little corner to ourselves. more importantly, the service was good!

the appetizer: calamari

one of the three pizzas, and my favourite. :)

my dad and mom's hands in the background.
