at the request of my parents - a picture of my room, or at least, my table. its really quite messy beacuse i haven't gotten down to moving my food to the kitchen and sorting out my stuff. heh.

dawen picked me up and we were all set to go to MetroCentre - Europe's largest leisure and entertainment centre. yes, that means shopping.

it was huge! the entire mall was divided into 4 sectors - red, blue, grey and green. imagine vivocity but four times the size. i overestimated my shopping stamina and was tired out by noon. i did, however, manage to get a GAP brown longsleeve top for 2.99pounds. :)

on my flatmate's recommendation, we had lunch at Nando's, she said that if we like chicken we've definitely got to try the place.

i obviously do not know how to take food pictures, because the chicken looks pretty dry here, but i guarantee you that its not. the chicken was flame-grilled and really succulent, the corn grilled to a taste that i've never tried before. and they had really special sauces - wild herbs, garlic and something else, but all too spicy for my liking.

we saw that there was a bus to IKEA, and we hopped on it! i got myself a pillow stuffed with duck feathers (mommy, just like the cushions at home), a flask and a bowl. well, ikea's concept is pretty much the same worldwide, so nothing much to say, except...

i was delighted to find this chair, because i have one like this back at home too (told you about the similar concept) and then dawen insisted that i take a picture of it and show to my parents. haha.

we travelled to Gateshead, and this Millenium Bridge was the highlight of the day. the view really lifted my spirits.

its really beautiful, the walkway looks like its suspended on midair.

The Baltic Museum features contemporary art. it used to be an industrial building, a flour mill but they converted it into a museum (mr chiew, memory, heritage & history!). just opposite the Baltic Museum, we saw the graffiti works by one of dawen's favourite artist and he was really excited (PO, remember the shirt he wore to your house for Christmas Eve - the one with the gun and flower). unfortunately, they only had one exhibition open today and we had already seen Chiho Asoshima's other works at the Singapore Art Museum.

but the view on the 5th storey! oh my! we happened to catch the sunset and the view of the city was breathtaking. we also had a lot of fun at the museum shop, dawen saw an Obey art book and the shop assistant actually opened up the wrapping for him to take a look. it was really expensive though, around SGD60 and we left, with the book sitting tightly in the shop.

given that dawen's going to end his visit at Newcastle, he wanted try something more interesting. we had dinner at Big Mussels, and had the Clock Saver special, if you arrive at 5.30pm, then your meal will cost you only 5.50pounds!

we ordered mussels cooked in classic style, it was too dark to take a closeup of the delicious mussels but we were really satisfied.

to end off this post - dawen lamenting about the difference between 5 singapore dollars and 5 pounds. sigh.
